About the Show

Created by 15-member experimental performance company CHILD, 1-800-3592-113592 is an interdisciplinary retail dynasty fantasia about a family jewelry store in New Jersey called “DiFrederico’s” that turns into powder and is overtaken by zebras.  Performed by 12 (including a full band), this freako-maximalist spectacle positions business as the nucleus of family life and Life as an Experience Center, searing the DiFrederico’s jingle (and its too-long phone number) into your memory. 1-800 is not a play, nor is it a dance. Just come down to the Jewelry Depot, it’s DiFrederico’s. 1-800-359-2183592, yeah.

1-800-3592-113592 has been developed through residencies Target Margin Theater, The Fisher Center at Bard College, LifeWorld, Mercury Store, and Baryshnikov Arts Center.

1-800 was developed with support from Theater Mitu's Artists-at-Home grant, received a Project Boost from New Georges, and was created in association with Immediate Medium’s AGENCY program, made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
